Special price 7.90 EUR! Austrian acacia honey with pickled red walnuts in organic quality. The nut variety "Red Danube Nut" occurs in only a few regions. In particular between Ybbs and Persenbeug along the Danube. These red nuts are therefore really rare to find!
According to the sources, the nuts came to Ybbs an der Donau from South America on the frigate SMS Novara in 1857. Initially, the nuts were very popular, but in the interwar period, trees and fruits fell into obscurity.
Despite the rarity, the beekeeper fills his honey jars to the brim with the nut kernels. The weight of the walnuts is about 70 g. Everything else is organic honey.
The advantage of acacia honey is that it stays liquid for a long time and thus gently encloses the nuts without becoming hard or crystalline. This honey is a dream for all those with a sweet tooth who also want something to nibble on. Also as a sweetener in muesli and Greek yoghurt.
