World Honey Advent Calendar, Door #12

Posted by Siegfried Neubauer on

We open door no. 12 of the World Honey Advent Calendar

This is a rare type of honey from the high mountains. The so-called alpine rose honey , popularly known as alpine rose honey, can only be harvested from around 1,500 m above sea level. To do this, the beekeeper and his honey bees have to go up into the mountains after the snow has melted. There the bees collect the nectar of the low-growing, pink-flowered florets until August. Interesting is the fact that the alpine rose is very poisonous for humans and cattle, but the honey can be enjoyed without reservation!

Now you can win a glass of delicious alpine rose honey! Please like us on Facebook or Instagram and answer the following question correctly: Rumor has it that in the east of Austria, especially in Vienna, in the Weinviertel and in Burgenland, there have already been intoxication-like conditions, but why is there no alpine rush there? We are curious how you judge that and will announce tomorrow who won the honey glass.
