We open door no. 4 of the World Honey Advent Calendar

Behind it is one of the most exotic honeys in the world! It starts with the metallic packaging. We in Europe would keep varnish and paint in it, but certainly not honey. We would rather have filled it in a glass. To open the honey you either need good nerves and rock-hard fingernails, or a flat screwdriver. The aluminum can contains the Leatherwood honey from Tasmania 🇦🇺. The island south of the Australian continent has partly been able to preserve its original character and the leatherwood trees, some of which grow very tall, are typical of this landscape. The Australian bees prefer to nibble on the white, small flowers of this species of elm, a tree species that is not native to Europe. The flowers already exude an intense smell and this honey also has a similarly strong smell and taste. The taste is reminiscent of another species of false elm from the Andes in South America. Mock elm honey always has something of marzipan and almonds about it.
