Everything comes to an end, even a shop like the one we ran in downtown Vienna for 7 years.
We designed the location for retail food, especially honey from all over the world, and the concept was obsolete at the latest with the Covid lockdowns. During the pandemic, we were considered a local supplier like a supermarket and, from a purely legal point of view, we were supposed to keep it open, but our customers were at home during the lockdown. So there was a large number of days without sales and we had to finance the fixed costs from our own resources. We are still particularly proud that we didn't need any gifts from the state and made ends meet.
However, after 2 years of the pandemic, life did not return to the shopping streets as hoped, because inflation set in with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and our target group has been plagued by money worries and fears for the future ever since. From bad to worse, Covid went straight to war. Fixed costs have increased and continue to increase and customers are reluctant to spend money. There is a cost gap every month that we are no longer willing to finance.
And because there is no light at the end of the tunnel for us either, we have decided to close the business on March 31, 2023 and at the same time to increasingly transfer our offers and activities to the internet.
So we're continuing on the Internet with offers for everything to do with food, especially honey, and are pushing our virtual presence with the web shop and on social media channels. So far we have had good experiences with online orders and a total of over 3,000 orders have already been placed online in the World Honey Shop. It can be assumed that online orders will continue to work well in the future and we are therefore looking forward to many visitors who want to take a look at our range online.
