Domenis 1898 AGHEMÎL Liquore is an organic certified grappa with honey. It is produced in the famous grappa distillery of the Domensis family in Friuli.
Specifically, this grappa liqueur uses a honey similar to heather honey from the Amorpha fruticosa plant. It is a wild plant that grows in ditches and along streams and rivers. It produces a very characteristic honey with a fruity aroma that is reminiscent of jellies, candied fruit and orange marmalade.
The pomace is distilled using direct steam in a discontinuous still with eight copper kettles. This means that the steam still is emptied after each distillation process and then manually refilled.
After distillation, the grappa must rest and mature for a year. Only then is the honey added and the liqueur bottled.
The diffuse cloudiness in the bottle is part of the concept and after a longer period of time the honey settles at the bottom. Before pouring a glass you should briefly turn the bottle upside down or swing it to the side so that the honey is evenly distributed.
This grappa with honey liqueur has won several awards , including gold at the International Organic Awards 2022, gold at the Women's Wine & Spirits Awards 2022, Falstaff Spirits Special Tasting 2021 with 89 points, etc. ....
