Oak forest honey from Spain. "Dehesa" is the Spanish name for cork and holm oak forests, which are mainly found in the Extremadura region and are considered grazing areas for livestock. Farming with cattle, pigs and sheep keeps the vegetation around the trees low and allows the oaks to develop into unrivaled strong, large trees. Oak forest honey is a type of leaf honey (forest honey, honeydew) with a characteristic black color. You can't see through the honey jar! The honey is viscous like motor oil and the taste of this honey is less sweet than blossom honey. In the aroma you can taste a light note of malt and vanilla.
