Oak forest honey from Spain. "Dehesa" is the Spanish term for cork and holm oak forests, which are found primarily in the Extremadura region and serve as pastureland for livestock. Grazing cattle, pigs, and sheep keeps the vegetation around the trees low, allowing the oaks to grow into strong, large trees without competition. Oak forest honey is a type of honeydew honey (forest honey) with a characteristic black color. You cannot see through the jar! The honey is viscous like motor oil and less sweet than blossom honey. Its aroma has a subtle hint of malt and vanilla.
