Fruity elderflower mead from Steyr in Upper Austria. In this mead, elderflowers (elderberry, lat. Sambucus) are added to the sweet mead. The flowers are collected in the region and must be soaked in the mead for around 8 weeks so that the typical elderberry flavor is transferred to the drink. By tasting regularly, the cellar master determines whether the mead is drinkable and fruity enough to be bottled. No flavors or colorings are added to this mead. Unfortunately, elderberry mead is rarely offered because elderberry is only available for a limited time of the year . 11% alcohol by volume, contains sulfites.
