In the Middle Ages, a spiced wine like the love potion was also called hypocras . It was believed to have a health-promoting and strengthening effect. There was both a white and a red wine variant that could be enjoyed at room temperature or hot. Rich nobility and the clergy had wines spiced with everything that was good and expensive to impress guests. Cinnamon, cloves, but also pepper and herbs were added to the wine. The bulbous elixir bottle itself is a great eye-catcher in the display case.
