The tropical flower from Cuba is special in several respects.
In the tropical climate, the bees collect, among other things, the nectar of the mighty royal palm (Roystonea regia). This palm species, which grows to a height of 20 - 30 m, is typical of the Caribbean and does not exist in Europe. Tourists know the palms mainly from the Caribbean beaches up to Florida. The Caribbean flora gives this honey a complex, rather fruity aroma that is difficult to find in this country.
The country of origin of the honey is also politically unique, as there is still a US trade embargo on Cuban products. This relic dates back to the 1960s, the Cold War era, and still means that US companies are prohibited from trading in this honey. To get straight to the point: We had Cuban honey in our range for a short time a few years ago and at the time we accepted the US payment service provider PayPal for online orders. After the first online order with PayPal, our company account was blocked and we were forced to remove this honey from our range. Only then was the PayPal account block removed.
We currently no longer accept PayPal payments, so we have decided to add this exotic honey back to our range. We are convinced that neither the Cuban beekeeper nor his bees pose a threat to the USA and are happy to be able to enjoy this honey again.
