This Greek mountain tea comes from the nomadic Mouriki beekeeping family. These wandering beekeepers care for 2,500 colonies in Greece and commute with their bees between the mainland and the Aegean islands to perform pollination work. In return, the beekeeper receives top-quality honey and some of the herbs in organic quality .
Crete's valuable herbal landscape is severely threatened by poachers, so laws had to be enacted to protect it. The herbs for this tea were grown by the farmer and pollinated by the beekeeper's honeybees.
Preparation: Pour approximately 2 g of herbs into 250 g of hot water and let it steep for 5-8 minutes. Sweeten the tea with a spoonful of honey, if desired.
