This dark, viscous pine honey comes from the nomadic Mouriki beekeeping family. These wandering beekeepers manage 2,500 colonies in Greece, commuting with their bees between the mainland and the Aegean islands to perform pollination work. The beekeeper receives top-quality honey as payment.
The fir honey comes from Mount Elikonas in the Boeotia region (central Greece). In this quiet area there are dense fir forests and a ski resort. The bees find the best conditions there to be able to collect the honeydew from the fir trees in peace. Forest honey in general and fir honey in particular have a special feature: it does not begin to crystallize even at low temperatures. The honey remains nice and viscous.
We source this honey directly from Greek beekeepers , without any intermediaries. For this reason, all information on the label is in Greek. This honey is only marketable (i.e., suitable for sale) in Austria with additional German-language labels, which we are required to affix to each honey jar.
