This dark, viscous pine honey comes from the nomadic Mouriki beekeeping family. The wandering beekeepers look after 2,500 bee colonies in Greece and commute with their charges between the mainland and the islands in the Aegean to carry out pollination work. As a reward, the beekeeper receives top-quality honey.
The fir honey comes from Mount Elikonas in the Boeotia region (central Greece). In this quiet area there are dense fir forests and a ski resort. The bees find the best conditions there to be able to collect the honeydew from the fir trees in peace. A special feature of forest honey in general and fir honey in particular is that it does not begin to crystallize even at low temperatures. The honey remains nice and viscous.
We purchase this honey directly from the Greek beekeeper , without any middlemen. For this reason, all information on the label is in Greek. This honey is only marketable (suitable for sale) in Austria when additional German-language labels are added to each honey jar.
